Problem u/mounting USB stick on udev rules

I was found this problem on KNOPPiX Distribution version 5.1. When i want to mounting or umounting USB stick device, i get this error.

deanet@littleshark:/home/deanet# mount /mnt/sdb1
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

although i have add option filesystem at that’s commands as root, i’m still getting error.

root@littleshark:/home/deanet# mount -t vfat -rw /dev/sdb /mnt/sdb1
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

to solve it. I must edit uid with my username and gid with my group username option on /etc/fstab. Like this.

# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/sdb1 /media/sdb1 vfat noauto,users,exec,umask=000,shortname=winnt,
uid=deanet,gid=deanet 0 0

It’s finished ? Not yet 😦 . Every Knoppix system reboot, file /etc/fstab will replace with new device option. It’s means rebuild fstab (/usr/sbin/rebuildfstab commands) will change to default fstab. It’s not efective every reboot i must edit fstab again. Now, i can edit knoppix rules on /etc/udev/knoppix.rules and /etc/udev/knoppix-post.rules to fix it.

find line on both file like this

/usr/sbin/rebuildfstab -r -u knoppix -g knoppix

and change with my username and group login like this. (ex: username: deanet )

/usr/sbin/rebuildfstab -r -u deanet -g deanet

ok. then reboot my sistem and check with u/mounting USB stick.

hapyy and enjoy it ..

soir, i’m boring now. comment on my post blon smpet direply cos koneksi lelet.

keyword: usb, sudo, error, mounting, umounting, udev, knoppix, debian
